Meat Shack Lunch in the Tirana Highlands

This is a flexible day trip, built around lunch at one of our favourite village restaurants! In the morning you have the option to stop at Bunk'Art 1 (tickets approx €5), and to take the Dajti Ekspres cable car up Mt Dajti (approx €8; the minivan comes up by road). If you choose, you can also climb to the peak of Mt Dajti (about 1h up, and 45 minutes down). From Dajti we'll drive on through beautiful countryside to our lunch stop, a small wooden shack owned by the lovely Dëfrim and Hilda. Nowadays most village restaurant close to Tirana have been refurbished to a gangster aesthetic, but Dëfrim and Hilda keep the place as simple as possible, and let their food do the talking. Veal is the speciality of the house - the cows are raised on Dëfrim's little farm, and cooked in the traditional saç method. If you prefer lamb, goat or chicken, no worries - just give us 48 hours advance notice.
