Aconitum arendsii

There's little to rival the brilliant blue flowers of Aconitum arendsii other than early Delphiniums. This easy to grow perennial offers a scintillating blue colour at the opposite end of the season, bringing late season drama to borders with tall, upright spikes of deep violet-blue, hood-shaped flowers held above rich, dark green, deeply divided foliage. Flowering from late summer into autumn, this striking monkshood adds vertical structure and rich colour when many other plants are fading, making it perfect for backing a mixed border or creating seasonal impact in a cottage or wildlife garden where the flowers are heavily visited by bees and other pollinators.
