6-Day Kilimanjaro Marangu Route: Comfort Trek with Sleeping Huts

The Marangu route, nicknamed the "Coca-Cola" route, is the oldest and most established path on Kilimanjaro. It is the only route offering dormitory-style sleeping huts instead of camping. Mandara and Kibo Huts have 60 bunk beds each, while Horombo Hut has 120. Mattresses and pillows are provided, though sleeping bags are required. The huts feature communal dining halls and basic washrooms, ranging from flush toilets at lower huts to long-drop toilets at Kibo Hut. Many favor Marangu for its gradual slope and direct path. However, the shorter timeframe can make acclimatization difficult. Approaching from the southeast, the ascent and descent follow the same trail, making it a social but busy route.
