English Harbour 5yr Rum is distilled on the World’s only Continuous Column Hybrid Copper Still. The still is a fusion of an English and French still made by John Dore and Savalle respectively. Hailed by many as versatile entry level rum, it can be enjoyed neatly or in a range of classic cocktails. Rum Connoisseurs in the Caribbean and Worldwide view this rum as an impeccably smooth and light bodied rum with superior excellence and flavour. Copping numerous awards, English Harbour 5yr Rum speaks for itself as it has converted many cognac and scotch drinkers to rum fans. ADL ages its rum in used 200 litre American bourbon barrels which are charred on the inside to give extra depth of flavour to the rum. As each barrel is filled a handful of oak chips is added to enhance the interaction of oak and rum. The barrels are sealed, labelled for the batch and dated. The laboratory report on the various alcohols, acids and congeners found in the batch is carefully preserved for future reference. Each batch of rum has different amounts of these elements, and, within a batch, each barrel is slightly different. This information becomes crucial when the mature rum is later selected for blending. Tasting Notes Rich, amber colour, with mild spices and banana nut bread aromas. The palate is off dry to medium with robust toffee, roasted nuts, toasted coconut, sugared butter and brown spice flavours. The finish is clean and elegant with lingering tropical dark fruit.
