Vienna Private Emperors Treasures and the Legacy of the Habsburgs

For more than 600 years, the Habsburg family has been ruling the country known as Austria, and many lands today beyond your borders. They evolved from an insignificant lineage of robber barons into a dynasty ruling an empire in which the sun never set, just to finally lose all power in the dawning age of democracy (all..?). No wonder the Habsburgs left us with an ubiquitous legacy which can be deciphered on many buildings, squares, and religious edifices in Vienna’s Old Town as well as inside locations of Imperial presence now museums. Regional traditions and even some character traits of and prejudices against Austrians in general and Viennese in particular can be traced back to the long rule of one dynasty. Last but nor least, we inherited many fascinating, awe-inspiring, at times shocking, sometimes tragical but every so often comical stories, some of which I will share with you on this vivid and colourful historical tour.
