Kaikyo Distillery Hatozaki Triple Cask Reserve

Kaikyo Distilley's Hatozaki is a new project set up by our favourite Sake brewery, Akashi-Tai, based in the coastal city of Akashi in Southern Honshu. The secret of Japanese whisky lies in the skill of the blenders, Hatozaki blends Japanese malt with imported whiskies and ages them in a combination of ex-sherry, bourbon and Mizunara oak casks. Hatozaki Blended sees the marriage of both malt and grain whiskies, including whisky distilled in Japan and imported stocks. It's named after the nearby Hatozaki lighthouse, which is the oldest stone lighthouse in Japan. Produced from the finest, hand selected malt whiskies, this blended whisky is aged first in former Bourbon and Sherry casks, before finishing for an additional six months in superior Umeshu plum liqueur barrels in Japan, a rare and special process in whisky making. Tasting Notes Complex flavours of black tea, subtle vanilla, dried apricot, and fragrant oak spice, rounded off with a smooth, long finish. Best served neat, over ice or in a highball cocktail.
