National Park of Mavrovo and Bigorski monastery, from Ohrid

Discover Mavrovo National Park, the largest in the Balkans, where bears and lynxes roam freely amid dramatic peaks, clear lakes, deep canyons, and dense forests. Shepherds have long brought their flocks here to escape the summer heat, and you may spot them along the way. High in the mountains, take scenic walks across Mavrovo National Park’s open plateaus, if lucky, meet local shepherds, and all their animals. Experience nature in its purest form. On the way back, you can stop for lunch at the traditional House of the Miyaks (not included) before visiting Bigorski Monastery, the largest in Macedonia. This medieval complex remains an active spiritual center, home to over 30 monks devoted entirely to faith and prayer.
