The tour of the four craters

The itinerary is articulated along the entire southern slope of the Volcano and is of considerable geo-volcanological interest DA. Starting from the meeting point "La Baita" at about 1900 m. you cross the lava flows of the eruptions of 2001, 02 and 03, which during the eruptive event partly destroyed the existing tourist infrastructure on the southern side of the Volcano as well as threatened the town of Nicolosi. Continuing you will visit the so-called "ABYSS", cave where ancestors tried to conserve snow. Further on you will pass by the Small Crater south - east to reach an altitude of 2100 m. where you can admire the BUTTON CRATERS, named so for their particular morphology. After the visit to the Craters mentioned above, you will go down a descent of volcanic sand very fun, where you can admire a splendid view of the Ionian Coast.
